(e.g. Acute pharyngitis, acute tonsillitis, impetigo)BEFORE YOU TAKE ROXITHROMYCIN When you must not take Roxithromycin- Do not take Roxithromycin if: You are allergic to roxithromycin or any other macrolide antibiotic eg azithromycin,clarithromycin or erythromycin. You are allergic to any of the inactive ingredients mentioned at the end of this leaflet under Product Description. It is past its expiry date or the packaging appears to have been tampered with. You are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless permitted by your doctor. You have severe problems with your liver. You are taking certain medicines for migraine headache of the group of ergot alkaloids (eg Migral, Cafergot, Ergodryl, Dihydergot; [not all brands listed]). Before you start to take Roxithromycin Tell your doctor if you have allergies to: Any other medicines, especially if they are in the same drug class as roxithromycin. Any other substances, including foods, preservatives or dyes.Tell your doctor if you plan on becoming pregnant while you are using Roxithromycin. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. Roxithromycin passes into the breast milk. Your doctor will discuss the risks and benefits of using Roxithromycin while breastfeeding. Tell your doctor if you have or have had any medical conditions, especially the following: Impaired kidney function. Problems with your liver (hepatic cirrhosis with jaundice and / or ascites). Taking other medicines Tell your doctor if you are taking any other medicine, including any that you buy without a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop. In particular, tell your doctor if you take any of the following: Theophylline (Neulin,Austyn, Theo-dur), a medicine used to treat asthma. Certain medicines for migraine headache such as ergotamine (Migral, Ergodryl, Cafergot) or dihydroergotamine (Dihydroergot tablets). Disopyramide (Rythmodan), a medicine to treat irregular heart rhythms. Terfenadine (Teldane) and astemizole (Hismanal), over the counter medicines used to treat allergies. Warfarin (Coumadin, Marevan), a medicine used to prevent blood clots. Digoxin (Lanoxin), a medicine used to treat heart failure. Midazolam (Hypnovel), a medicine used to induce sleep before operations. Cyclosporin (Neoral, Sandimmun), a medicine used to prevent organ transplant rejection or to treat certain problems with the immune system. Cisapride (Prepulsid), a medicine used to treat gastrointestinal problems. Pimozide (Orap), an antipsychotic medicine. These medicines may be affected by Roxithromycin-RL, or may affect how well it works. You may need to use different amounts of your medicine, or you may need to take different medicines. Your doctor will advise you.HOW TO TAKE ROXITHROMYCIN- The recommended dosage for adults is 300mg per day. You may take this according to one of the following dosage regimens: one 300mg tablet once a dayor one 150mg tablet twice a day or two 150 mg tablets once a day The dosage of Roxithromycin for children depends on their weight. The recommended dose for children weighing 40 kg and more is 150mg twice a day. Roxithromycin should not be used for children less than 40 kg in weight.However, your doctor might advice you to take a different dose depending on your condition and your reaction to the medicine. No dose adjustment is required for the use in elderly. Roxithromycin is usually taken for 5 to 10 days for treating infections. Your doctormay want you to take Roxithromycin for a longer period. Ask your doctor for adviceif you are not sure how long you should be taking it. Continue to take Roxithromycin until the pack is finished or your doctor tells you to stop. Roxithromycin should be taken on an empty stomach to work best. Take Roxithromycin at least 15 min before or at least 3 hours after a meal.Roxithromycin tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water . Fusidin is steroidal antibiotic. Fusidin used in the treatment of primary and secondary skin infection caused by susceptible organisms. Sodium fusidate is an antibiotic that is used to treat infections caused by a type of bacteria known as staphylococci. It works by preventing these bacteria from producing proteins essential to the cell. Without these proteins the bacteria cannot grow, replicate and increase in numbers. Sodium fusidate can penetrate tissues well, so it is often used in infections of the bone (osteomyelitis) and heart, caused by staphylococci. It is often used with a second antibiotic that is active against staphylococci, particularly for severe infections and when prolonged therapy is needed, to prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria. Sodium fusidate is only used to treat infections caused by Staphylococcus bacteria, such as the ones listed below. It is available as tablets, suspension and intravenous infusion. It is a cancer chemotherapy drug which works by blocking a certain protein (an enzyme called tyrosine kinase) which may help cancer grow and spread.How to use Gefitinib OralTake gefitinib by mouth once daily, with or without food, or as directed.Medications which reduce or completely block stomach acid (e.g., proton pump inhibitors/PPIs, H2 blockers, antacids) may decrease the absorption of gefitinib. It usually is taken once a day in the morning or twice a day in the morning and afternoon. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take furosemide exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.Furosemide controls high blood pressure but does not cure it. Continue to take furosemide even if you feel well. To avoid contaminating the container tip, do not touch it to the skin or any other surface. Learn all preparation and usage instructions in the product package. If any of the information is unclear, consult your doctor or pharmacist.The amount of the medication applied is based on the size of the ulcer. Your doctor or wound specialist should adjust your dose every 1 to 2 weeks.Squeeze the prescribed amount of medication onto a clean, firm, and non-absorbent surface (e.g., waxed paper). Use a clean applicator (e.g., cotton swab, tongue depressor) to apply a thin layer of the medication evenly over the ulcer, usually once daily or as directed by your doctor.Cover the ulcer with wound dressing as directed by your doctor. Montelukast is used to prevent difficulty breathing, chest tightness, wheezing and coughing caused by asthma. Montelukast is also used to prevent bronchospasm (breathing difficulties) during exercise. Montelukast is also used to treat the symptoms of seasonal (occurs only at certain times of the year), and perennial (occurs all year round) allergic rhinitis (a condition associated with sneezing and stuffy, runny or itchy nose). Montelukast is in a class of medications called leukotriene receptor antagonists (LTRAs). It works by blocking the action of substances in the body that cause the symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis.Montelukast comes as a tablet, a chewable tablet, and granules to take by mouth. Montelukast is usually taken once a day with or without food. When montelukast is used to treat asthma, it should be taken in the evening. When montelukast is used to prevent breathing difficulties during exercise, it should be taken at least 2 hours before exercise. If you are taking montelukast once a day on a regular basis, you should not take an additional dose before exercising. When montelukast is used to treat allergic rhinitis, it may be taken at any time of day. Take montelukast at around the same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take montelukast exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.If you are giving the granules to your child, you should not open the foil pouch until your child is ready to take the medication. There are several ways that you can give the granules to your child, so choose the one that works best for you and your child. You may pour all of the granules directly from the packet into your child's mouth to be swallowed immediately. You may also pour the entire packet of granules onto a clean spoon and place the spoonful of medication in your child's mouth. If you prefer, you may mix the entire packet of granules in 1 teaspoon of cold or room temperature baby formula, breastmilk, applesauce, soft carrots, ice cream, or rice. You should not mix the granules with any other foods or liquids, but your child may drink any liquid right after he or she takes the granules. If you mix the granules with one of the allowed foods or drinks, use the mixtures within 15 minutes. Do not store unused mixtures of food, formula, or breast milk and the medication.Do not use montelukast to treat a sudden attack of asthma symptoms. Your doctor will prescribe a short-acting inhaler to use during attacks. Talk to your doctor about how to treat symptoms of a sudden asthma attack. If your asthma symptoms get worse or if you have asthma attacks more often, be sure to call your doctor.If you are taking montelukast to treat asthma, continue to take or use all other medications that your doctor has prescribed to treat your asthma. Do not stop taking any of your medications or change the doses of any of your medications unless your doctor tells you that you should. If your asthma is made worse by aspirin, do not take aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) during your treatment with montelukast.Montelukast controls the symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis but does not cure these conditions. Continue to take montelukast even if you feel well. Do not stop taking montelukast without talking to your doctor.
